ABODE’s End of Life Yoga Certification is based on gentle, accessible yoga – yoga to fit anyone, anytime, anywhere and of all abilities. Yoga is so much more than pretty poses. It’s really all about love, service, breath and being present. Along with gentle practices, we’ll have plenty of contemplation, discussion, deep listening, journaling and an exploration of the Panchamayakoshas – don’t let all those syllables scare you! We’ll learn ’em! Having a specially curated yoga practice centered on the final stages of life will enhance how you serve and be with those who are dying.

MODULE ONE: Yoga at End of Life – a Defining, Breathtaking Difference

Contemplate your personal mission and vision, embrace deep listening, get in touch with your own mortality, learn to set healthy boundaries, and understand how unconscious bias can show up in our work.

MODULE TWO: Being with the Dying

Learn how and where to serve the populations of people at the end of life, caregivers, and people who work in the death industry.

MODULE THREE: The Art of Yoga at Every Stage

Dive into the philosophy of the Panchamaya Kosha, the Chakras and Prana Vayus and learn how they relate to the stages of dying. Explore a contemplative approach to advance directives and funeral planning.

MODULE FOUR: A Contemplative, Heart-Centered Toolbox

Learn practical tools to utilize with clients at all stages of dying, caregivers, death workers and yourself. Identify opportunities to provide legacy and vigil planning for your clients.

MODULE FIVE: Getting to Know Grief

Examine how grief shows up in the body, mind, and spirit for the person who is dying, their caregivers, and for people who work in the death industry. Learn contemplative and practical tools to meet someone in deep grief.

If you enjoy yoga, and you’re curious to learn how closely this beautiful practice can be incorporated at end of life, don’t miss our 60-hour ABODE End of Life Yoga Training. We’ve designed it specifically for yoga teachers and therapists, chaplains, hospice care workers or anyone who wants to serve the dying.

In fact, our training is for anyone who is drawn to the Death Doula or Death Cafe movements, for anyone who wants to bring a deeper understanding to their own end of life journey, or who wants to explore the whole process of serving people who are at the end of life, and people who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Our Resident Yoga Therapist Natalie Buster has curated and created this training which will likely change your life – and change the lives at those you’re working with, as well.

Yoga Alliance CE credits: 60 hours
(45 contact, 15 non-contact)

This training is a combination of hands-on, practical contact hours at ABODE, an end-of-life home in San Antonio – and non-contact hours can be applied as Yoga Alliance CE. More importantly, we will prepare you for the experience of death and dying – for your own loved ones, relative strangers and for yourself.
