Death Cafe

Death Cafe

Death Cafe is a discussion group – we welcome free-form conversation about death, whatever that means to the people in the room. There are no agendas, objectives or themes – and we are not a grief support group or educational meeting. Nothing is sold, taught or recruited for. We simply gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Our objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.

Healing Holidays, Making Your Grief Count

Healing Holidays, Making Your Grief Count

Grief during the holidays is always challenging, and even more so in this past year. This workshop will help identify internal and external resources that contribute to self-compassion and enhance resiliency. It will help families embrace their grief, while strengthening characteristics of resilience. Participants will use the holidays to discover how their loved one can live on into their life story, using this special time to continue to heal.

6-8 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 13
ABODE
8619 Post Oak Lane

Facilitated by Edwin Sasek, ABODE Co-Founder.
Sponsored by ABODE and Porter Loring Mortuaries & Cremation Services.

2021 End of Year Letter

2021 End of Year Letter

There’s no place like home for the holidays. And, just like at your home, here at ABODE we make everything warm, cozy and bright for our many Guests facing their end-of-life journey – at no cost to them. Despite the difficulties and uncertainty of 2020, we’ve continued to care for a wonderful variety of Guests and welcomed so many of their family members and friends to be with them in their final months, weeks and days. For those with no family or friends, we step into that role – sitting vigil, holding their hands and sharing the love they need so they can let go. At ABODE, no one dies alone.
