Holiday Luminarias Lighting: Sunday, Dec. 13

The spirit of ABODE is always bright during the holidays – especially during our annual Holiday Luminarias Lighting.

This season, we’ll light close to 200 luminarias in honor and in memory of the Guests we’ve loved and cared for since we opened our doors six years ago.

We invite YOU to participate by purchasing luminarias in honor or in memory of those you love, as well. We plan to light them all on Sunday, Dec. 13.

Please  click here  to purchase – they’re $25 apiece. You’ll see a field where you can indicate the names of your loved ones – we’ll personalize the luminarias for you (see photo at the top, right).

And then plan to join us for our Luminarias Lighting, between 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, at ABODE, 8619 Post Oak Lane, in San Antonio. With the increase in San Antonio COVID numbers, we’ve decided to transform Luminarias into a drive-through event. It’s just too risky for us all to gather together – even outside, masked and socially distanced.

So, the new plan is this:

You’ll drive through ABODE’s circular driveway, stop and we’ll hand you your luminaria bags, sand and tea lights via the passenger window of your car, along with homemade cookies from FrankieB Bakery, hot chocolate mix – and wine from Scout & Cellar.

The Conroy Christmas Carolers will still be with us to serenade us as you drive up – and we’ll have plenty of other luminarias placed around the front of ABODE so that everything looks beautiful and festive.

If you’d like to do that, please email us to let us know about what time between 5-7 p.m. you’ll plan to arrive at ABODE. We’re hoping to space out arrivals to avoid any traffic bottlenecks!

Please remember that your donations to ABODE are tax-deductible – and so very helpful to us, especially at the end of the year.

On behalf of all of us at ABODE, we wish you a warm and joyful holiday season!

Questions? Send an email to  mary@abodehome.org  – and we’ll get right back to you!
