Welcome to ABODE

ABODE provides a welcoming, peaceful home and unconditional loving care to our guests through the compassionate service of our community and volunteers.

Our Vision

Dying is a sacred time of life. Love, compassion, and a home matter to all who are dying; those whom we honor and from whom we learn. We serve the community as an educational resource in the art of contemplative living and dying.

All the walls are up, siding is now in place and windows and doors are being installed. As you can see from this video, ABODE Home is most definitely happening quickly. While the construction crew builds, there are many behind the scenes building the organization that will inhabit the building.

Jane Marie Young will be the Executive Director and we are thinking ahead to all the volunteers who need to be trained and will give their time and love in service. Consider how you will volunteer at ABODE Home, how you will be a part of the ABODE of Peace, and submit your volunteer application today.

Here is a wonderful new video by Martin that gives us the inspirational message Gordon Hartman gave about ABODE at the groundbreaking in November--and how it's manifesting in the construction.

The building is taking shape and an Executive Director has been hired. Already, we are beginning to look ahead in earnest. Think about how you will continue to contribute to ABODE. As Gordon Hartman reminded us, we will be serving people who need us, need the peace of ABODE, need our care. ABODE needs you. So, as you watch this video, see how ABODE Home is taking shape, looking more and more like a dream come true and remember that you are a part of this dream.

Many thanks to Love Made Me Do It Productions for the very cool video!

Roughing in the plumbing

We know you will be delighted to see that the New Year is beginning with the grounds at the ABODE site being leveled, roughed in for plumbing, and made ready to pour the foundation. The beautiful trees on the property have been given special care to help them do well through the construction. According to the schedule, framing will begin next week.

Going by every day to see the progress of ABODE's new home, taking photos, meeting the workers, it's fantastic to see and imagine what's next as the house starts taking form.

It is happening because so many are contributing their compassion, love, and generosity of spirit, and are committing financial resources to build the home, and fund operating expenses. Thank you!

In the meantime, you'll be happy to know that the search for an executive director is going well, and we hope to hire an ED to start part time in March. There is much to do!

We appreciate your prayers, good wishes and financial support as we look ahead to opening in the summer, to welcome ABODE's first guests.
